Trees (D)

A young woman climbs up on a platform built high atop a tree, in protest over the cutting of Douglas Firs in an Oregon forest. During a radio call-in show held in her “tree house” that is intended to draw attention to her cause, she responds to a harassing anonymous caller, by announcing that she will leap to her death on the 100th day of her sit-in, if her demands are not met. As the days count down, she must confront her inner fears, her own sense of self worth, and her feelings of guilt over inadvertently causing the death of her brother years before. Laced with humor and romance, Trees is a winning drama that will cause tears, joy, and ultimately bring out the “compassionate rebel” in us all! Writer: Eric Nemoto. Pages: 116. Note: Has been produced as a stage play.
