The Flowering Land* (D)

Project Description

A Seattle tax attorney, on the verge of landing a long awaited partnership, must return home to Waialua, Hawaii, to run the family nursery business when his father suffers a debilitating stroke. This temporary relocation is fraught with challenges, for aside from the fact that our hero can’t tell the difference between an orchid and a bird of paradise, after being away for 20 years, he also must learn how to be “local” all over again. Things don’t get any better when a hurricane threatens the farm and he must decide between the perceived prosperity of the “mainland” and the love of family and friends at home. The Flowering Land is a timeless drama that features the Hawaii away from the beaches and bikinis. Writer: Eric Nemoto. Consultant: Greg Ventura. Pages: 121.
